What is CBD?
CBD, or cannabidiol, as it’s otherwise known, is a naturally occurring compound extracted from the cannabis plant. There are many chemicals within the cannabis sativa plant and these are called cannabinoids. Two of the most well-known are THC and CBD.
THC is the psychoactive chemical that produces a ‘high’. CBD however, is not known to cause any psychoactive effects. To be legal in the UK, CBD products must contain less than 0.2% THC and therefore CBD products allow you to experience the benefits of the other cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant without experiencing any psychoactive effects.
CBD oil drops contain cannabidiol suspended in carrier oil and are designed to be taken under the tongue or added to food and drinks. CBD Capsules also contain CBD suspended in oil, but are designed to be ingested. Our products can be taken as a food supplement but are not medicines.
What are CBD Oil Drops?
CBD Oil drops or ‘CBD tongue drops’ provide a method to take CBD in liquid form. A quality product will consist of a carrier oil (we use Hemp oil) and cannabidiol extract.
The most common and effective method for taking CBD oil is to take it sublingually (drops placed under the tongue). However, they can also be added to food and drinks or even applied directly to the skin.
What are CBD Capsules?
CBD Capsules are simply another method to take cannabidiol. They are usually flavourless and will contain a measured dose of CBD oil. They provide a convenient alternative to CBD Oil Drops which are designed to be taken under the tongue, or in food and drinks and also allow for more consistent dosing.
What are CBD Balms?
Our Balms contain CBD oil along with moisturising and skin replenishing ingredients. They are designed to be applied topically; directly onto the skin as required.
What is the Difference Between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil?
When comparing hemp oil vs. CBD oil, the key difference is that the two products come from different parts of the hemp plant. Hemp oil comes from the seeds, and CBD oil can be extracted from the stems and leaves. Hemp oil is unrefined whereas cannabidiol oil is usually highly refined in order to isolate the most beneficial compounds of the plant.
What is a CBD Tincture?
CBD tincture is just another name for CBD oil drops. They are also sometimes referred to as ‘tongue drops’, due to the method of administration.
Is CBD Legal?
CBD products are legal to buy and sell in the UK, as long as they are derived from one of the 63 industrial hemp strains that have been EU-approved. To be legal for sale in the UK, CBD products must not contain more than 0.2% of the illegal and psychoactive compound, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).
Can CBD Get You ‘High’?
No, CBD oil won’t get you high or cause any psychoactive effects.
THC is the psychoactive chemical in the cannabis (aka marijuana or hemp) plant which is responsible for creating a high. Cannabis plants containing high levels of THC are illegal in the UK. The hemp plants which are harvested to create our CBD products contain only traces of THC (less than 0.2%) which will not have any psychoactive effect, and is completely legal.
You may have read or heard about CBD being used by people with pain, anxiety, insomnia, fibromyalgia, arthritis and a wide variety other conditions.
We regret that due to government regulations, we are unable to offer advice regarding using CBD for specific complaints or conditions.
There have been many studies into the effects of CBD, however this research is still fairly new so further research is required to better understand the potential of cannabidiol.
We have excellent reviews from our customers regarding our service, so please do check these out.
Using CBD Products
How Do I Take CBD Oil Drops?
To take OK CBD Oil drops sub lingually (under the tongue):
- Shake bottle well
- Apply 2 - 3 to drops underneath the tongue
- Hold the oil there for around 60 seconds.
In Food & Drink
You can also take CBD by adding a few drops to your food or drink.
Please bear in mind that if you use CBD oil as a cooking oil, many of the active compounds will disappear into the air. Therefore, it is best to keep the oil at room temperature, cook it at a low temperature or add it to food that’s already cooked.
How do I Take CBD Capsules?
Take one to two capsules per day, followed by a drink of water.
Should I Choose CBD Oil or CBD Capsules?
Administering CBD oil under the tongue is the most effective method of taking cannabidiol. However, some find the sensation unpleasant or find it difficult to get the correct dosage. In this case, capsules can be a much more convenient alternative.
How Much CBD Should I Take?
The amount of CBD you should take is subjective as it depends on your individual physiology and the reasons for which you are taking the oil. However, please see our guidance below:
- CBD Oil Drops Starting with a low dose will allow you to increase or decrease the dosage depending on your experiences. The standard recommended dose of our CBD oil is 2 to 3 drops twice a day. You can then increase this if required, up to a recommended maximum of 15 drops per day.
- CBD Capsules We recommend taking a maximum of two capsule per day.
Is it Possible to Take Too Much CBD?
Although we don’t recommend consuming in excess of 15 CBD oil drops or two CBD capsule per day, there have been no reported incidences, injury or illness caused by taking too much CBD oil.
CBD Isn’t Working For Me, What Should I Do?
Sadly, CBD doesn’t work for everybody. However, there are some things you can try if you are not experiencing the desired results.
Ensure you are buying a lab tested, full spectrum product.
It’s important to ensure that you are buying legitimate cannabidiol products. Ensure that the company you are buying from can provide lab test results for their products to certify that they contain the stated amount of CBD.
Increase the number of drops you are taking
You may find that you need a higher dosage of CBD.
Choose a product with a higher concentration of CBD
Don’t give up if you have only tried 250mg or 500mg strength CBD oil, for example. It may be that a 600mg or even 1000mg strength will be more suitable for you.
Will CBD Show Up in a Drugs Test?
Different drugs tests may look for different substances, however CBD wouldn’t normally be tested for in a drugs test as it is legal and doesn’t have any psychoactive effects.
Most tests look for THC which is only present in very trace amounts in CBD products (less than 0.2%) so, unless you’re taking a high quantity of CBD at very high concentration and the tests are looking for THC in the blood, it wouldn’t trigger a positive result. We would recommend that if you are subject to mandatory drugs tests through your employment for example, you check to see which specific substances are tested for.
